Award Recognizes the Carruthers’ Introduction of BOTOX for Clinical Use in Dermatology
Earlier this week The American Academy of Dermatology awarded Dr. Jean Carruthers and Dr. Alastair Carruthers with the 2012 Eugene J. Van Scott Award for Innovative Therapy of the Skin at its 70th Annual Meeting.
The Award recognizes the Carruthers’ introduction of botulinum toxin A (BOTOX) for clinical use in dermatology. In addition to aesthetic use to treat fine lines and wrinkles, dermatologists’ use of botululinum toxin A has been used in the management of skin conditions including hyperhydrosis and other sweat related diseases, and has been found to alleviate symptoms of chronic pain syndromes, such as migraines.
On behalf of all of us at the Carruthers Clinic, we would like to congratulate Dr. Jean and Dr. Alastair for their incredibly hard work and for their commitment to their research and patients.
